The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) establishes  standards for the restoration industry and provides certification and training to restoration companies. IICRC Certified Firms may and often do display the IICRC Certified Logo.

IICRC Certified Firms must

• Conduct business with honesty and integrity, and present accurate information to consumers and businesses alike.

• Require a certified technician on all jobs who has been formally trained and passed all required tests for the given discipline.

• Require a continuing education program to keep technicians up-to-date on all updates and the latest changes in the industry.

• Maintain sufficient liability insurance to protect all parties in the unfortunate event of an accident.

• Maintain a written complaint system/policy and agree to the Better Business Bureau or equivalent arbitration to resolve disputes, and must also agree to accept the conclusions and recommendations of arbitration.

The IICRC Develops The Standards For The Restoration Industry

The IICRC has been the driving force in establishing the vast majority of industry standards and accepted reference guides for professional carpet cleaning, water damage restoration and mold remediation. These IICRC standards take many years to develop and require the coordination of acknowledged experts in the field: manufacturers, industry and trade organizations, insurance professionals, training schools, licensed contractors, and public health officials.

Every five years, the standards are reviewed and updated as necessary. The water damage restoration field standards must evolve to keep pace with rapid advancements in technology and science.
